Documentation centre

Research at TAMAT is an integral part of any museum activity and is ensured by the presence of a study and documentation centre. The centre has a collection of more than 2000 monographs, books and specialised magazines. It has a reading room and is open to visitors, students and researchers, three days a week and by appointment.

The documentation and study centre has specialised documentary resources in the fields of tapestry, fabric arts, wall arts and contemporary textile art in general. It provides access to artists’ monographs, exhibition catalogues and academic journals. A comfortable reading room, located between the visitor’s path and the documentation centre, allows for consultation and research in complete tranquillity.

As an active partner in teaching and study, it accompanies professors, researchers and students in their documentary research and participates in the emergence of issues developed within the theoretical and practical teaching of academic and/or artistic institutions.

Within TAMAT, the centre is also a source of inspiration and research for the grant holders, those artists who invest the experimental workshops every year in order to develop their artistic research project related to textiles.

The collection consists of:

– 1200 catalogues
– 400 books (monographs and reference works)
– 400 brochures and guides
– 8 titles of academic magazines (with more than 750 copies)

The centre uses Socrate software to compile the catalogue.
